I am curious if anyone knows which articles are selected to be “featured articles” in the featured news module?
    Thank you, Robnob

Where do you mark articles as “featured” – i’m confused?

For example i have changed the the “featured news” custom module in the mega6 menu drop-down and i am trying to use the featured news module or janews_fp module and i cant figure out which articles it selects from.

Also, if i use multiple janews_fp’s why does it reset the settings to all instead of retaining the old settings for each module ? (if that makes sense)

    Thank you, Rob

You are referring to Teline_IV for joomla 1.5 i suppose

You have the chance to choose from categories ? or module is broken ?

This could be another problem due to something wrong in your site configuration something like this happens sometimes with the Ja_Slideshow module

Could you send me via Private Message your account details so i can check better on your site ?

    Thanks

    Hi robnob

<blockquote>Please check the janews sticker module and its configuration.</blockquote>

    it seems to works fine

the other problems on your site are due to a misconfiguration of all layouts

look at this guide on how to set up all modules i think it could be helpful .

P.S. Update your joomla version to the last release

    Wow! What did you do?
I just returned to my site after seeing this message and my layout is all over the place???

My site never had layout issues… the news stick was just not updating the text when i changed it.
Can you please tell me what parts of this site you touched so i can trouble shoot what you did.
    Thank you

That is not correct. I clean my cache on my site daily and have never seen the layout as it is now.
Half of the modules are not even being displayed.

Is there someone also that can help me fix this? or a number to call?

Which cache do you clean daily? The Normal Joomla cache or the JAT3 one?

Pavit really is an honest chap and I can assure you that if he did anything else other than clear your JAT3 cache he would admit to it.

I have no idea what has caused your problems or what your site looked like before he cleared the cache. For diagnosis it would be great to know exactly what changes you have made to the original code as it may help us to diagnose what has gone wrong. Usually in cases such as this users have edited the css in the T3 cache folder instead of in the original css folder. It is an easy mistak but causes the sorts of problems you are seeing when the jat3 cache is cleared as all those css changes are lost.

This is something I know in the back of my mind, but need reminding about occasionally, JAT3 system is very complex, has this warning been added to any general hints & tips section? here on the forums?

Thanks Phil – I clean the Jat3 cache everyday… and i do believe Pavit (he has helped me in the past)
It just seems very odd that my layout changed after i gave him access, but i will troubleshoot the error and figure it out.

It is just frustrating because it creates a mess-load more work. (and quite frankly i don’t know where to begin looking)
I tried having my server host restore my data from a later date and it didn’t fix the error. hmmm.:((
    Thanks. Rob

    tfsnom,

Yes, this has been mentioned in the forums many times. The reason people modify thae cached version is usually because they do not quite understand the system and simply use firebug to work out what css files to modify. You MUST before you use firebug go into the template manager and disable CSS optimization and enable Development Mode. The correct CSS files will then be visible in Firebug and the user can then be sure that they are adjusting the right files.
