I am using JA Mitius with Joomla 3.1.5 and all articles in EasyBlog but would like to test JA Fixel.

I obviously cannot use quickstart on an existing site and already have up to date versions of Extension Manager, Slideshow Lite, Twitter, Masshead, Bookmark, T3 System and Google map,, do I just download and install the following:

    JA Fixel Template
JA Fixel Source Files (do I need the source files?)

Theme Fixel for EasyBlog (does this become an extra theme in the Easyblog software or is it a custom version of the software?)
    Theme Fixel for JShopping

I like JA Mitius too, definately a great template. But JA Fixel is just sunning and I can see a lot of people wanting to have a play. First I would wait until the manuals are published as there are quite a few little subtle items that are needed in the setup. Small things such as mosule and page classes that make a big difference.

If I wanted to dive in here is what I would do.

1: Install WAMP on my local machine so I can have an offline testbed.
2: Install the quickstart of JA Fixel on WAMP and have a play.
3: Using Akeeba backup take a copy of my live site and install that on WAMP
4: Install the JA Fixel template to my local install then install the Easyblog and Jshopping themes (You do not need the source files).
5: Try and work through setting everything up as per the demo comparing the settings in the quickstart.

As I said, there are a lot of subtle settings and it may be worth awaiting the docs to arrive so you do not miss anything.

    Cheers phill,

I have WAMP and appreciate the step guide but will take your advice and wait for the docs, I like JA Mitius but JA Fixel looks superb on first impressions and I will probably switch.

I installed JA Fixel quickstart on WAMP and played around, then installed the (seems to be default only?) JA Fixel template on the live site (after backup) along with Joomshopping.

I tried to install the EasyBlog and JShopping JA Fixel themes via Extension Manager, but received the same error in both cases:

JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file

    Have i missed something?

    Hi dealthenuts,

Those zip files are not Joomla Extensions. So it will not be installed with the common way as Joomla package.
Just extract those zip files and copy to associated folders.

    1. componentscom_easyblogthemesja_fixel
    2. componentscom_jshoppingtemplatesfixel

After that, you need to go to component setting and change the template (theme) to new folder.
For Easyblog, you just need to select ja_fixel as default theme in Theme selection
For JShopping, just select fixel in dropdown list JShopping > Configuration > General => Template dropdown

    Hope it helps,

    Regards

Thank you Wall Crusher, very helpful indeed and all installed.

I use EasyBlog and JoomShopping on JA Mitius at the moment while I wait to see if Fixel will be updated to include selection options for EB/JS content on their homepage display, would the EB/JS fixel themes work on Mitius?

I can back up the site and test, probably some changes needed to fit Mitius template layout?

    Hi dealthenuts,

The grid display is only available on Fixel.
The grid function is a part of JA Fixel. So it will be available on JA Fixel only.

Though EB zip file contains css/images only, it will work well on JA Mitius.

    Regards
