I have just downloaded the latest Rutile Quickstart package and all looks fine in IE7 and FF.

With IE8 I get a problem with the JA News Frontpage module overlapping the JA News module.

When I click the compatibility button on IE8, the page renders fine.

I have read numerous posts on these forum regarding similar problems but cannot find a definitive solution.

Can someone (preferably from JoomlArt) explain what the current situation/solution is for this template under IE8 in order to make it compatible?

Just use the ie8_compatibility plugin to solve your problem.

Go to your index.php and find the following

and change to:

</style>
