Hello,
I would like to customize Edenite v1.1.1 template on Joomla v1.7. I come to know about Template Override, but unable to implement it due to lack of template user guide. Can anyone let me know how to implement Template Override to make changes to the template, so that I can keep my customization’s when upgrading to newer versions?
Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For the most part – yes.The best way to learn is to review the User Guide and explore through the template administration and files.

What exactly do you mean by “template override?”August 23, 2011 at 12:27 pm #407881I would like to make changes to the log-in form (module), index.php files etc. If I make changes to any of these files, template update will override my custom changes, right?

Once you download the template, you can make whatever changes you want – that’s the whole point to it being an open-source “template.”😎

August 23, 2011 at 6:05 pm #407975WHat changes exactly do you want to make? It is very hard to support you with so little information. If you can detail in full exactly what you want to achieve then we will see if we can help.

In additional follow-up . . .If/When the time comes to update a particular template to a newer Joomla version – say 2.5 – it is my understanding that only the relevant Joomla platform files will be updated. Any style and/or module customizations you’ve performed will not be overwritten – save for those elements that may be needed for the particular modules to function properly.

GREAT . . . Never forget, the JoomlArt Template User Guides and Community Forum Sections are a fantastic resource for MANY issues and questions you may have.
