February 29, 2012 at 1:15 pm #174435Hi
Any one can tell me what is the difference between the following 2 modules?
1. mod_janews_fp
2. mod_k2_contentI believe that these 2 modules are the same – both of them are retrieving featured items…
So the questions is , how these featured items or articles are filtered??? based on Hits??
Thank you

February 29, 2012 at 3:50 pm #440888Those serve very different purposes:
K2 is a so called content construction kit (CCK) and is an alternative to Joomla’s native content system. You shouldn’t use both; choose one. K2 has some more advanced elements like tags and a comment system.
JAnews_fp presents featured articles whether they are produced in Joomla’s built-in system or in K2. It’s the module with the Obama picture in the upper right of your home page. You yourself decide if an article (called item in K2) is featured or not. You will find ยซFeaturedยป as a choice in the Article manager, a few lines below the title of the article.

February 29, 2012 at 4:03 pm #440892At least in the native Joomla adm control panel you have two sets of quick icons, one marked K2. You can also choose K2 items and categories from the component menu. If you have no K2 items or K2 categories you don’t use K2.
If you should want to use K2, you can import articles to that system from Joomla.

Finally! Lovely ๐I have noticed that the counter (1 of 4, 2 of 4 and so on) in the lower left corner of your front page module is racing away. The reason is probably that the modules theme settings are set to auto play but you haven’t set any auto play duration. Try giving it a value of 10000 or so (I believe that is milliseconds). Or you can turn off auto play if you prefer.

I am afraid I have to throw in the towel. It’s close to 3 in the morning here, the Friday is coming up like a high speed train.
