Sorry, a real noobie post. How long is a piece of string kind of thing….

I picked JA Uvite as a base to a website I wanted to build as I liked the look of it and what it had to offer. I had a few problems with the way the frontpage is handled, but it does not seem to provide trans menus so at a loss….

What I want to do is build a website, along similar lines to http://www.upminsterweather.co.uk, but with my own flair and design using Joomla as the base.
I have my own ideas, but the above site serves as a baseline setup as I have the same lightning detection equipment.

Does anyone have an idea of a template, or templates, that have transmenu functionality.
I don’t want the site to be a rip-off of this guy’s hard work, but would like to produce something as least as classy.
I need a point in the right direction. So far I am reduced to downloading all the JA templates one at a time and trying them out. Against the rules I would guess…

Any ideas where to start looking?

    Many thanks, Sue.

Maybe you should use the templates like JA Teline II or Lolite for that. And make it more to a journal. You can still adopt the colors and design attributes of JA Uvite to any other template.

Most important, please do not use the “SitePal” thing on your site, that is horrible…;)

Thanks for the “Heads Up”. I’ll go away and play now.
As for SitePal, I have no idea what that is, so it’s a safe bet it wont get used. 😉

SitePal is that annoying computer voice you hear on the example you gave… IT ONLY WORKS OUT PROFESSIONALLY WHEN USING A PAID SUBSCRIPTION I GUESS…

It also can display animated characters that talk and you could also chose a dog to talk…

Just that you know what I refer to: http://www.sitepal.com

But I just thought maybe to use that for my site when they can guarantee that the voice is as clear as on their homepage, but when surely without displaying an animated character and just the voice to greet customers once when they visit the site.

But you could also use JA Edenite or JA Rutile, those also fit to that type of content you like to display. I would definitely use a more journal like or business professional template, the example looks kind of far out the normal standards, negatively seen.;) You can also get a google adwords account and add some 3rd party advertising to the site, not just that it can make you some income with the site but as it is like nearly a standard it also fills empty space. And with the mentioned templates this will also look good. I would really chose a bright color, and make the site user-friendly. Just because the topic is weather or storms, the site must not look as dark as those can become…

    Hi Sue

I would go with Telline II as it’s fairly easy to get a hang of.

Also, it’s the most used JA Template and therefore most of the problems you could run into have already been answered somewhere on the forum!

    Good luck with the site.

What I heard about the problems with the template is it also the one with the most. Sure, it is a wide spread template, but still, when I want to have a site that is not made with one of the most popular ones, that I would not go with that template. I suggested it but also some others, and infact, I really like a lot more than Teline II only and there a lot with a journal style or business style. It is really a decision of taste in the first step following the other factors I think…It will fit but also some more….

    Hello Sashaiel,

Ja Templates are not free and you will only get support for it when you are a licenced member.
Please log in with the account of your friend (if she has any) and post the question in the JA uvite forum.

Or you can purchase a subscribtion with your account.

    With Regards,
