I’m new here and to Joomla but I just downloaded the AVIAN QUICKSTART file. I’ve searched in forums but I can’t find an answer to the question how to install the files in de zip file. I understand how to do that when the zip containts modules or components but what do I have to do with the quickstart.zip?
Thanks for your help!

The NetherlandsJanuary 10, 2008 at 4:07 pm #236179The quickstart is basically the joomla installation files with the Avian template and it’s modules already included, this is for if you are happy to do a fresh install of joomla! If not then just use the template files and install as a normal template and add the gallery etc. You need to unzip the archive and ftp the files to your server as they are. Hope that helps?
January 10, 2008 at 10:21 pm #236194Thanks for your reply. I’m using a new virtual server hosting so I can make a fresh start. Should I have Joomla installed or just upload all the files from the quick start file to a new /dir on my server? And then start index.php on installation dir?

Yes u may upload all the quick start package into the server then start installed it…as whassupbud55 says “The quickstart is basically the joomla installation files with the Avian template and it’s modules already included” if u gonna used Avian template….if not then a fresh install/joomla install will be done.
January 11, 2008 at 9:29 am #236220If you have already done an installation of joomla! then you could just install the template and any modules seperately. If you would rather have the ease of Avain already being installed and configured then you need to do the fresh quickstart installation. Just delete the old installation, assuming you have one and then upload the quickstart files to you server root and then run the installation. Just type in your web address ie. www,joomla.org and as the config file is empty it will default to the installer. Fill in your database info etc, delete the installation directory and voila! You have beautifull Avian all installed! Hope that helps. I am not pro at joomla! but you need any more help, just shout!
January 12, 2008 at 10:08 am #236279Thanks. I copied al the files to my new virtual server and started the installation. Everything went well; I started the website and got the “delete the installation dir” message. Ok. So I did. And now I get the message: Failed opening required ‘E:/mysite.nl/wwwroot/editor/editor.php’ (include_path=’.;C:php5pear’) in E:mysite.nlwwwrootindex.php on line 226
What did I do wrong and what can I do to fix it?

Cheers ShannonNJanuary 14, 2008 at 10:24 am #236392I am not sure myself? You are using WAMP or JSAS? I just started using WAMP myself. I really dont know to be honest. Maybe it is the version of php? If you have php5 on your WAMP or similar then maybe you need to use php 4? Better to ask someone with more technical knowledge on that side of things. If your using WAMP you can download other versions of php and Apache etc, try getting php4 and using that. I could be completely wrong. Must be someone in forums can help you. Good luck.
Update: I just installed Avian on WAMP and it was ok.
I have Apache 2.2.6 – php 5.2.5 – MySQL 5.0.45
I copied Avian quickstart files to www and then created new database in phpMyAdmin. opened localhost and got internal server error! Deleted the .htaccess and refreshed localhost, the installer ran, filled in all information and then deleted installation folder and viewed site. Works ok!
Does this help?
