So I downloaded JA Lime 1.6, installed it and the various plug-ins without much trouble on a site with a few pre-existing menus and placeholder articles. Then I tried changing the menus, moving position, adding sub-menus, the usual. But no matter how often I refreshed the live website, nothing changed, the menu stayed the same as in the beginning. I tried a different browser in case it was a browser problem but the site looked still the same. The only time something changed was, when I added a slideshow module, that showed up (wonky and a different size in every page but at least it was there).

In an act of desperation I decided to delete all content and start anew. I deleted all menus, all corresponding modules, all articles and emptied the trashcans. But on the website the content was still there, all the links to supposedly deleted articles still worked (on different computers too, so not a browser cache problem!).

I finally went back to a previous backup of joomla without any content and the website is empty now when I look at it. But the same problem keeps occurring, I add a menu, try the different positions but it doesn’t show up in a single one of them! When I switch to a different free template everything works without trouble, menus show up and I can change them easily.

Can someone please tell me what is going on?

All right, this issue appears to be (somewhat) solved. The problem seems to only happen when I install the template via the Joomla extension manager, if I upload it via ftp it works. I have no idea why because all other templates work just fine the way I usually install them but at least I’m not stuck anymore.

On to the next problem I suppose :p
