When i press the button "2" the page counter jumps to "3" so i will not be ever able to go to page 2. However it shows page 2 in the URL.

You can try to switch template style (JA Magz) to a default template of JOomla like Beez for ‘Featured’ menu item: http://prntscr.com/ajaqo9

You will see that the pagination works the same
