I am looking at installing this template, but don’t want to use quick start as it is for an existing site.
The instructions always assume the template is for a new installation.

There are more module positions in the demo, than of you simpley install the template – why us this – i have added the slideshow module, but there is not slideshow position.

Can anyone help as to what is the best method if you want to install a template on an existing site

To add /?tp=1 to the end of the url does not work here on the Joomlart.com Demo page, the template does not give an overview about the module positions too….

It works on joomlart’s demos if you take the direct link to a template:

As Bennitos points out, if you go to the actual demo page this query does work. It’s only on the framed template selector page that it doesn’t. When in the selector page and you want to see the positions then right click and select This Frame>Show only this frame then add the ?tp=1

The slideshow position is in the ‘template only’ version.

But to answer your question… I think the best way is to make a backup of your existing site and install it on a local machine. You will certainly have to make CSS changes to make your original modules fit in with your new temlate and you’ll most likely need to alter module positions in your index.php. This is just par for the course when changing templates and there is nothing really easy you can do to speed up the process.

An alternative is to install the quickstart and take your old content over to it. It all depends on how much content you have and which way is faster.

For ease of reference, all the module positions for all the templates are shown the the news release for each template, just click more info on the showcase page.

Here is the one for JA Cooper for instance.
