i am using Ja_purity for joomla 2.5. whee is the layout for iphone and android and others like that. I know where the /blocks/ and user themes are but those files appear to be in jat3, do I move them out to edit them????

Yeah, you can do that

Copy both folder: handheld and iphone

From <blockquote>plugins/system/jat3/jat3/base-themes/default/blocks</blockquote>
To <blockquote>templates/ja_purity_ii/blocks</blockquote>

And you can customize anything on the template.
