    I have had to change the home page to a bloglayout to stop a problem I had with the sidenews module appearing on pages where it was not suppossed to.

    I have cleared all the information off the blog page layout that I don’t need.

    Now I have a lot of blank space that I have circled on this image

    Could someone point me in the right direction as to where the code is I need to edit to reduce that space?

    Cheers, Jim

    Hi,
    Could you give me a link to your page as you said?

    You find this code from http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/templates/ja_tiris/css/template.css

    #ja-content-mass-top {
    min-height: 396px; < change this line
    position: relative;
    }

    Sorry Khand, I did that but it is still the same http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?lang=en Is there another module maybe that came on the blogpage that I need to turn off?

    Jim:
    It looks like you may have resolved your issue – as I do not see the same large blank space displaying as in the image within your original post. Were you able to resolve your issue?

    Hi Tom,

    I believe it is still there http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?lang=en and has text in it

    “”By putting all of your content into nested categories you can give users and search engines access to everything using a menu””.

    What I want to do is have the side news module at the top of the page and then the slider underneath and no other things on the middle section of the page.

    Hi Tom & Khoand,

    Any suggestions on where to go to edit the CSS to clean the front page up http://www.myjakartaconcierge.com/index.php?lang=en

    Thanks Jim

    Hi Khoand,

    when the suggested fix did not work I changed the position to content mass bottom to see if it made any difference but now it just means the white space and unwanted text is at the top and not the bottom.

    So am still trying to find out how to ge rid of it?

    I hate to say it, but I believe that section is a “main content” section that – if you removed or altered it – would affect other content within your site that utilizes that block.

    What you would likely need to do is create a template/theme override for just the home page – where the main content section is ommitted.

    Here is a video tutorial that may assist you in this regard . . .

    Thanks Tom, had a look at the video and that looks fairly easy to follow. But when I have done all this what code will i need to put in the css file to the unwanted space and text go away?

    did you modify ANY of the php files? Your getting 2 articles to display… both appear to have no content.

    Hi Tom,

    Have not done anything yet as when i started to try and follow the video I found that teh Themes folder the video refers to is not present in my folder.

    Tom, the reason I chose the blog layout was because when I was in the Joomshopping layout the sidenews module kept appearing on other joomshopping pages; even though it was only ticked to appear on the home page. I put in quite a few tickets but then edn result was that they believed it was a joomshopping issue and that I should update joomshopping. I did not do this as I could not see how it coudl work on the demo site which had the same configuration and then not on my site. Plus when I put something in user 1, 2, 3 positions then I had the same issue.

    So all I am really trying to do is find a Menu Item Type for the home page that will just allow me to put the modules I want on the home page. Maybe there is an easier alternative than the Blog one that I have chosen. I thought there would be a blank page but I cannot find it.
