Everytime I try to add it in the HTML in the template manager I get a parse error code.

    Where should it be placed?

I always put it in the bottom of the head code, just above the closing head tag.

With this template the head code is pulled in from a specific file depending on the version of the page for the browser type. This means there are multiple page combinations which means instead of just one file to edit you need to replicate the code in several files. I put the code at the bottom of these files.

    /templates/ja_teline_iii/layouts/blocks/head.php
    /templates/ja_teline_iii/layouts/blocks/handheld/head.php
    /templates/ja_teline_iii/layouts/blocks/iphone/head.php

The same will apply to code in other parts that get pulled together to build the page depending on the detected browser type.

I find its better to use ftp (flashfxp is my favourite) and a proper html editor, the best of which in my opinion is Adobe/Macromedia Dreamweaver, not cheap but excellent. Pull the files down, edit them locally and upload, that way you get the benefit of undo if you do something wrong 🙂

    Hope that helps.

It should go inside the body tag just before </body>

You can also use a module just fill in your details, place it in Debug position with title hiding and you won’t see it. But it’s there, i use it also.

    I use J!analytics module found on Joomla.org
