Hi there!
I’m having some issues with my website and am hoping that someone will give me a hand – as Joomlart members always do on this forum! 🙂
Details:
Joomla 1.5
Template JA-Iolite
http://www.4seasons4weeks.comHere’s the problem…
1. I have a top menu with a green background, in firefox it displays perfectly fine! In internet explorer and Safari it doesn’t show and looks transparent.
2. On some computers the right column disappears entirely. In their own words…
“I’ve attached 2 screenshots of two different computers with the same IE Version 7 on them. So far, I’ve seen 3 different screens with the IE 7. My laptop has everything looking perfect. The others are my desktop and my friend’s computer. My daughter’s Safari also does not show the green bar. The worst is that my friend’s has the email form and Contact Us under the poll in the center column and nada on the right column.”

Does anyone have a clue of what could be causing these issues? Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!

May 8, 2009 at 6:35 am #303992You need to add the IE8 code
go to your admin and find your index.php file
add the code into the first line of the “head” of that file <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=7″ />

My green bar now shows in IE, but it’s still transparent in Safari… any ideas of Safari code that might do the trick such as the one we used for IE?

June 23, 2009 at 3:52 am #308753The transparent background in menus has been plaguing me for some time now. The release of IE8 was my only hope for a fix. No luck there though as I am still seeing it on many JA sites.
If you see something like this then I have a way for you to overcome it.most of the templates use a file called trans-bg-png to make the background of the moomenu. You will usually find it in the root of the templates images directory. If you open this file in an image editor you will find it is 1px by 1px in size. Resize it to 10px by 10px then save and upload over the old one. This fixes the issue in IE.
I hope the DEVs see this post because it would be good to maybe overcome it in future templates.
I have no idea why it occurrs for some people and not others but once I had 3 clients see the same thing so I decided I had to find a way to correct it.
I have seen in JA_Uvite it uses 3 of these images trans-bg.png, trans-1bg.png, trans-2bg.png so there may be more than just one.
I have also seen it reside in JA modules like JA_tabs where it is embeded in the plugin’s folder eg. “/plugins/content/ja_tabs/themes/uvite/trans-bg.png”.
Please add a reply to this post if it helps you.
