I like your JA Edenite template. Will it work with Joomla 1.6? Or do I have to have 1.5 to use this temple?
Thank you.

March 2, 2011 at 3:59 am #379196JA Edenite for J 1.5 will not work on J 1.6. You will have to wait for J 1.6 version for it. There is currently no date on its release and it is yet to be lined up for upgrade. It might take few months before we would be able to provide it.

GREAT NEWS . . . JA Edenite has been updated for J1.7 –> SEE HERE 😀A couple of ancillary issues you may want to consider in which Joomla platform version to utilize at this time . . . .
Do you also think you would want to utilize other extensions to further enhance your website’s dynamic functionality? The reason I ask this is because, at the present time (and for the foreseeable future) MOST of the Joomla Extension Developers have not/are not quick to upgrade/update their respective products for J1.6/J1.7x. I believe this is largely due to the relatively short professed shelf-life/support span of and for J1.7 – relative to what J1.5 has been (and continues to be). J1.5 is going to continue to be supported until at least April 2012 – at least up to the projected release of J1.8 … which will be the next MAJOR upgrade release (as opposed to J1.6 or J1.7).
I most certainly understand the dilemma …. technology advances so fast these days that, within the blink of an eye, the version you just started with has already been upgraded. HOWEVER, the good news is that Joomla remains every bit as robust and incredibly functional whether it’s J1.5x or (eventually) J1.8 …. so, in my opinion, if you have a vision for dynamic website in your head and you think that JA Edenite will fit your vision nicely, then I say WHY WAIT ?? 😀
J1.5 is every bit as strong, feature rich and robust as any of the current “upgrade” releases . . . in fact, MORE SO due to the availability of compatible extensions.
So, at this particular point in time, here are your two major considerations for moving forward . . .
1. Does your website vision include utilizing currently available dynamic extensions (i.e. JoomlART components, K2, JomSocial, VirtueMart, etc.)? If so, you will want to stick with J1.5x at this time – and your site will be every bit dynamic and functional for years to come.
2. If none of the 3rd Party extensions matter to you, then using a J1.7 based template is absolutely fine and dandy. IAs I mentioned above, our JA Development Staff is working on the J1.7 version – so if this is what you truly want/need right now, be sure to keep checking regularly here –> http://www.joomlart.com/updates/joomla-templates
Just want to help you make an informed decision based on your particular needs and vision.
😎
