    I’ve posted the following threads asking for info on reducing removing padding from modules – but they seem to be being ignored.

    If you also need answers to this question – Please post below and keep this thread to the top of the board till we get an answer to what should be a very basic question!

    Also (on a VERY related topic) IF Teline III is supposed to be a ‘news’ template WHY do none of the module column ‘display area’ sizes conform to ANY of the Google Ad standard sizes

    ie: 120px width, 160px width, 200px width, 250 width, 300px width, 336px width?

    The only size that seems to fit is Google’s ‘Square Rectangle’ 180px X 150px – which is about the width of the Left/Right column
    see: https://www.google.com/adsense/static/en_US/AdFormats.html

    WE NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CHANGE MODULE WIDTHS & PADDING IN ORDER TO SELL ADVERTISING IN THE MOST EFFICIENT MANNER – Google has set the standard ad size and (like it or not) most of our customers are using them, to try to sell non-standard sizes means they have ot have new art-work prepared!:-

    My past threads have been:-

    Shoggard,

    Each time you start a new thread asking the same question (or supposedly the same question), you are creating more work for the moderators. I have locked all your other threads. Please stop creating new threads.

    If you really need support on this you should raise a ticket. Not every post on the forum gets read by the devs. The forum was never meant to be used as the main support route. The ticket system is however. Every ticket raised is dealt with by the dev team.

    As you know, Scotty has provided one answer to allow you a header banner.

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-place-a-full-banner-in-the-header-area/

    As for removing the padding from the side modules, simply use the module class suffix _blank .

    You question regarding the exact width in pixels of each module, which other template clubs dispaly this?

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you for reading my threads, thought I’m confused why you indlude this comment:
    <blockquote>As you know, Scotty has provided one answer to allow you a header banner.

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-place-a-full-banner-in-the-header-area/</blockquote>

    That was never part of the question – my only involvement there was to thank the man for his excellent thread!

    Refocusing on the REAL topic at hand:-

    <blockquote>If you really need support on this you should raise a ticket. Not every post on the forum gets read by the devs. The forum was never meant to be used as the main support route. The ticket system is however. Every ticket raised is dealt with by the dev team.</blockquote>

    I am well aware of the support ticket system, and DID use it

    His responses to Items 1-3 didn’t work!

    AND quite clearly he DID NOT REPLY TO issue 4 – otherwise I wouldn’t be wasting my time and yours.

    <blockquote>As for removing the padding from the side modules, simply use the module class suffix _blank .</blockquote>

    Doesn’t that mean I won’t be able to deploy other module class suffix (ie: _hilite badge etc)!

    I don’t think you do understand these posts – I/we don’t necessarily want to remove them entirely what I want to is reduce the TOP & LEFT padding in ALL modules till I achieve a result my advertisers can live with – that will take some tinkering with …..

    But thanks anyway for the suggestion, pity it took from 29th September to make progress, even if it wasn’t quite the answer Im looking for.

    <blockquote>You question regarding the exact width in pixels of each module, which other template clubs dispaly this?</blockquote>
    It really isn’t a question of what other template clubs display this? The question really is “What template designers begin their design without using a mathematical grid? ”
    It shouldn’t be a secret that is kept from customers who ultimately have to insert images/advertising in these spaces.

    But since you ask – JA used to do it, but that was with Teline I, in 2007, before your time.
    Rocketheme do it on request
    iJoomla do it, publically in their manual, even though it isn’t strictly a ‘template’ but contains one.

    I’m not the only one who requres this information there are many many more:-
    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/from-where-the-width-is-coming/

    AND SO THE ISSUE REMAINS UNRESOLVED,

    Which issue remains unresolved?

    Please stop shouting! I can read perfectly well without your use of silly fount sizes.

    As for the padding, simply open templates>tpl_ja_telineiii>css>layout.css and adjust below as required.

    div.ja-moduletable, div.moduletable, div.ja-module, div.module {
    /* for side columns and spotlight, we only need to add margin or padding to Module */
    padding-left: 15px;
    padding-right: 15px;
    }

    <blockquote>Which issue remains unresolved?</blockquote>

    This issue which you have finally condescended to provide a solution to – something you were aware of as far back as 1st October 2008 when you posted in one of my original threads
    <blockquote>SHoggard,
    Could you tell me exactly how we can help you. I am currently unsure exactly what you are asking.</blockquote>

    So it has taken you exactly 19 days, plus of course my four unnecessary threads, PMs to you, drarvindc, and JA Developer, then lets’ not forget the unanswered Support Ticket…. meantime I have a sales team unable to go out and do their job selling ads into the ‘new’ layout because we don’t know what size to sell the clients.

    Is it any wonder, as an irate customer I’m shouting!

    Please do not take that tone. I am and always have been trying to help.

    There has been a problem with emails sent by this board which has only recently been fixed ( http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showpost.php?p=149050&postcount=7). As such, I did not get any emails showning that threads I had subscribed to had been responded to. I am sure you can appreciate that it is hard to follow every thread on a forum , especially as I have limited time and am doing this in my spare time for free, mainly as a way to improve my own skills. All those who are not listed as “Staff” are in the same situation so please do not take your frustrations out on us. We are doing our best.

    You also state that you have PM’d me! I can honestly say there are no PM’s from you in my inbox so I am unsure what has happened there.

    Glad you have finally found a resolution to your problem.

    Actually Phil… it’s only half a solution… sorry.

    The solution you gave reduced the width of the modules, thanks …. where do I reduce the Top padding (it’s 20px!!)

    BTW… I just rec’d a PM from Hung ‘resetting’ the Support Ticket answers given last week … seems there’s been a “mistake” that they’re looking into!

    I’ll leave this to your ticket as I have to go to work now and won’t have time this evening. This should be a simple fix but I have to go.

    Been delayed a little so here we go.

    The padding at the top and bottom is controlled by the following.

    Template.css line 624

    div.ja-moduletable, div.moduletable {
    border-bottom:1px solid #DDDDDD;
    padding-bottom:15px;
    padding-top:15px;
    position:relative;
    }
    di

    However, what I would do is create a new custom css class like.

    _adverts

    Simply open template.css and add the line (i’ve put it in around line 650 so it is easy to find)

    div.moduletable_adverts {padding:0;}

    That padding can be any figure you want, so you could have padding: 2px; etc. You can add any other styling you wish to the _adverts class within the {}

    You can then use the module suffix _adverts for your ad positions.

    You can still add other suffixes like badge-top etc afte it, just separate them with a space.

    I see this more as a custom modification rather than a fault with teline however.
