    Hi,

Did not find this is in solved issues, but would expect the core themes to populate in this tab, but they are not. Am I missing something?

    Thanks for the help.

Here is a screen shot. Should not the core color themes be showing in this panel when a template is installed? It doesn’t make sense.

Yes, it lacks default themes. I’m not sure why you get this issue but please try uninstalling the template and reinstalling. I hope that helps.

Thank you for the confirmation that something is wrong. But before I uninstall I need to resolve two other issues.

One relates to T3 2 framework.

If a T3 2 template comes with an older version of T3 2 framework (T3 2 v1.2.3), can one safely upgrade to T3 2 v1.2.5 framework version? If the framework files have not been edited, I would assume so, but want to make sure.

Also, can the updated framework be installed over the previous version, or should the previous framework version be uninstalled first?

Finally, can installed T3 2 templates be left installed, or do they have to be removed also before installing the updated framework?

If there is a specfic document to better understand best of practice install, upgrade, and uninstall directions for framework and templates, would love to read it.

Thanks again for the help and clarification.

Here are the answers for your questions:

    – An older version of T3 plugin can always be upgraded to a newer version, this update can be executed directly, in other words you only need to install the newer version, it will automatically overwrite the old one. Also, you dont need to care about available templates using the plugin, just keep them intact in this progress. In addition, we do not recommend editing the T3 plugin if you are not certain about the changes, and you are advised to upgrade using the regular updates on our site only.

    – Regarding the installation of templates, its different, you have to remove the old version of a template first before installing the new one.

We already have the instruction for this but somehow its hard to find it back, and since its pretty simple and all are mentioned above you dont need to read the doc anymore.

Hope this info helpful for you.

Thank you for the reply, and confirmation that it is difficult to find the docs regarding this issue. Have learned early on with !J to confirm uninstall/install procedures first as some developers have different ways of doing things.

I view T3 similar to !J, that is don’t mess with the core files. Good advice.

I want to confirm that using the !J installer for T3 upgrade process is valid, that newer T3 plugin will overwrite the older T3 plugin files. I make this distinction as much of the docs refer to the JA Ext Manager which I do not want to use at this time.

Finally, a related issue regarding upgrades. Where would one find specific procedures for using the local/themes strategy for managing template customizations? Have found bits and pieces of information, but several tests have not provided the desired override outcome.

Thank you again for your clear and informative reply.

    Hi bkmja,

Here you can find a detail guide about using themes in Jat3v2 templates:
    http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_T3_Framework_2/Guides#Themes_Settings
Please check and let me know if it can provides the info you need.

    Hi hungnd,

Thank you for the advice. Tried uninstalling, re-downloading, and reinstalling, but same problem. Other templates work fine. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again for the help.

    Hi Bkmja,

Now this appears to be a bug of JA Portfolio, I have tested and got the same result like you. An report has been raised to the devs and we will have a solution for this soon:
    http://pm.joomlart.com/browse/JATCPORTFOLIO-180
I will get back to you then.
Thanks so much for your effort and pointing our the bug.

    Hi,

Glad I could help though it has been a frustrating process. Everyone kept saying, “read the wiki,” to understand the framework when all along it was a bug. I guess the lesson to be learned is for everyone to keep an open mind, and add the software to the list of possibilities when an issue arises.

Looking forward to the fix. Thanks again.

    Thanks Bkmja,

You are right, I totally agree with that. Please notice in this bug themes are just not shown in Themes tab, but still available to select in Profile.

Solution for this: please replace the /core folder in your template with this one (attachment).
