I have setup this component with 2 Voice types, Ideas and Suggestions and I have a few bugs

1. The tabs in the widget both show Suggestions which is wrong. It should show Ideas and Suggestions not 2 versions of the same thing? The main forum is fine because it shows Ideas and Suggestions

2. When you are on the second Suggestions Tab in the widget only the title of the Voice shows and not the full question like your demo???

Please see attached for a screenshot.

And yes I have submitted a ticket also for these issues. :((

I have literally been at this now with tickets and posts in this forum for about 2 months and still not once has this whole component worked once successfully in all areas – amazing really considering I like joomlart and all the other products.

Hi guy,

Your issue has been fixed already.
Because your database errors. In settings/Voice types, Suggestions part, there is alias as Ideas similarly to voice type Ideas.

Again – this has only been half fixed- if you look at my screenshot you will see in the widget that only the voice/idea titles come into the widget and not the description of each voice which means it looks extremely blank???? I presume this is not the correct way it should look as it does not really make any sense if the person cannot see the text of each voice??? :((

Hi guy,

1. I have fixed this for you.

2. Currently, javoice only supports to display the title of voice in widget.

Thus, if you would like to display voice details in widget, you must implement available template overwriting mode of joomla by going to template of joomla to create following folders: ja_ores/html/com_javoice/items. Then, create widget_items.php file to overwrite file of the component. Currently, I have done this for your site, in the future when you want to move to the new live site, just follow as above.

Thank, you very much – great support. I was hoping somewhere in that extra file you have added I could limit the amount of characters of the description? Is this possible and where do I go about doing this? I am looking at the widget_items.php file and I and trying to make sure I can do this because obviously some descriptions may end up being 1000 characters which is way to big :confused:

Hi there,

Here is the solution:
– Login as administrator by the link: administrator/index.php?option=com_javoice&view=configs&group=systems
– in the tab Settings/general/ Vote Settings / in the text of Max Chars of Description you can customize.

I was hoping that you could have a certain amount of characters in the widget description and then a different amount of characters in the main forum description but I understand if this cannot be done. Its just in the widget I would like around 150 characters because its quite small area – and then obviously in the main forum a person might like say 300 characters and its nicer to show off more content???? Could this be a feature going forward? :p
