    Hi

I have an important question, and one that’ been concerning me for a while.

If i replace my current CSS website with a Joomla site (Joomlart templated) will my current Pagerank on my domain be affected?

I have had this site for 4 years and I am getting a good amount of traffic from it but it looks tired and needs refreshing.

    Please help!

    Dear munders,

SEO and Page Ranking changes rapidly when the quality of the content goes down / 404 errors (NOT FOUND ERRORS) etc…

As long as your url’s are maintained as they were in your earlier site and content remains the same, It should be a problem in retaining the Page Ranking.

Also, you can resubmit your SiteMap using Google Webmaster Tools, so that your not found url’s will be replaced with new urls by google over the time.

At the same time i am no expert in SEO. I had changed content on my site and URL’s got changed too, as i deleted old content and replaced it with new articles, my Page Ranking fell from 4 to 0. It took me over 5 months to reach back to Page Ranking 3.

I would browse through your site and look for your “important pages”. If you have mutliple pages with page rank 2+ write the urls down & what they are regarding. When you move over to Joomla I would put in some .htaccess 301 redirects of the old urls to the new ones. This way it will “pass on” your pr to them instead of just losing it.

Keep in mind if you’re going ot use a SEF plugin (which I would) some of these programs also let you put in custom redirects.
