I see that the 1.6 version of this template has been released, but 1.6 of K2 hasn’t been released. Will the template be updated to support the 1.6 version of K2 once it is released? Thanks!

Yes,

K2 support will be extended to the templates having it in the J 1.5 version. All Joomla 1.6 released templates are marked beta as they are lacking the k2 support.
