October 31, 2016 at 10:02 am #982016I am updating the site of a client of ours. She used the JA Zite template. She made lots of setting changes in the admin on the old 2.5 site. The old template is version 1.0.1. On the new 3+ site the old template doens’t work. If I install the newest version of JA Zite, will all her settings be lost? Hope to hear from someone…
Thanks and Regards, MarijkePankaj Sharma ModeratorPankaj Sharma

October 31, 2016 at 3:35 pm #982126Hi
you have to take the full backup of site and custom changes if the changes are in the default files ,that comes with the template , they will be overridden on template updates .
Also, update the template to the latest version before updating Joomla .
I suggest you to use the JATC membership account to get support for JA Zite template .MarijkeVerkaik FriendMarijkeVerkaik

October 31, 2016 at 3:40 pm #982128Okay thanks Pankaj, so I gather that the settings will be lost. We have a back-up of the old site, even better, we are still running the old site live and have a second site which I am updating. Is there a way of getting the settings from the 1.0.1. template into the new 1.0.6. template? Via the database for instance?

November 4, 2016 at 9:35 am #983377The problem is that the client doesn’t know if she wants to buy this template again.
We did not make changes to the files of the template only in the template-settings in the admin, but a lot of changes, a lot of work. If all these settings are lost and she has to start over she may want to change to another template, but I can’t answer that.
I am not looking for a free template or free whatever, I only want to know if the settings are lost when updating from 1.0.1 to 1.0.6. after updating from Joomla 2.5 tot 3+.
I don’t understand why I should have to pay to get that answer. It is a pre sales question. If I know the settings are okay I will buy the template for her.Pankaj Sharma ModeratorPankaj Sharma

November 4, 2016 at 9:43 am #983392Hi
i am not sure what are the customisation did by you on your site , But yes you have to save all custom changes before updating the template . Updating the template will override the previous template files with new files . So if you have custom work in template files you have to save it before updates . -
