September 1, 2008 at 1:11 am #268094in case i didnt explain this clearly… i am keeping the menu currently up top… above the logo… i want to incorporate the menu like the magazine template below the logo area above ja news/ tabs… for a different set of menu items…
i know i have to edit the template details and add the position which i have done– called it ” user12 “… as well as i know i need o edit the index php… i really dont know exactly what to put there… though i have played around with it able to get a menu to be published there– though it doesnt work… in my case i need to know exactly what to edit… i figure i also need to add code to the template css for the menu positioning along with index and template details file/s…
thanks again

September 1, 2008 at 2:04 am #268099Hi Trey,
I joined Joomlart mainly for the original Teline. I thought Joomlart will not make anything better than it, so I left to join another group, even if my membership was up to early August 2008. When Joomlart created Teline II, it was the concept I espoused when I joined in August 2007.
Looking at the template, it looks like the original Teline and Teline II seems quite related, but their innards are different. If you wish to preserve the original Teline “feel”, your best bet is JA News Component. Hypothetically, the JA News component can convert any Joomlart template to a Teline II like template, in terms of its feature. I do not know though how bug free the JA News Component, at this stage. Just to give you some sense of perspective, Teline II was the second template in April 2008. I considered it suitable for my purpose only when the major bugs were fixed by the end of July.
If it is the concept of Teline II itself that attracts you, it might be easier to do a fresh install using the QuicStart Kit of the latest Joomla 1.5.x-Teline II (currently v1.6), and migrate your content to this fresh install. And customize it as you suggested above.
This will be less problematic in the future, as you continue to upgrade your Teline II.
There are Joomla extensions that will allow you to easily migrate your content. I have not tried them yet though, so I am doing the traditional migration. But, there are a number here who knows how to do this.
