August 17, 2009 at 1:58 pm #314514drarvindc;140569Hi
Fixed. Please check the Google link on the top menu….
the problem was, in the Wrapper Url >> you had written >> http:\http://www.google.com instead of http://www.google.com >> // is the correct way to use the forward slashes.
Hope you got the point and can change the other problematic wrapper url.
regards
Arvind
To me it is fixed. I am not sure which link now your user has problem with. Besides, I only fixed one of the link and gave you the guidance to fix the others yourself. Hope you can try the same.
If it still amazes you, please tell me the links which are not functioning and other requirements if anyi can fix them up…
regards
Arvind
August 17, 2009 at 2:15 pm #314515Hi Arvind
Yes i fixed the other links, but I am not sure that my mistake with the slashes is the reason why the user experiences the strange behaviour that I have illustrated in the picture that I attached to the very first post in this thread.
I cannot recreate the problem on my systems, that is why I am afraid that the original problem wasn’t solved with this fix.
The problem is that the user gets to the site in the wrapper, but only a part of the screen is shown in the wrapper. I cannot see how the wrong slashes should create this type of behaviour.Regards

August 17, 2009 at 2:34 pm #314516Dear handberg,
The slashes were the problem for the 404 error, as i see in my Forefox 3.5, I do not see any problem as highlighted in your image attachment in first post for the “Tennis” link.
The site under wrapper is http://www.hoif-tennis.dk/, which can be seen completely in the wrapper page.
Please correct me if i am missing anything.
regards
Arvind

Thanks for solving the 404 error 😀
The site under the “tennis-wrapper” is shown completely in almost every configurations, and I cannot recreate it, but I have a user who gets this problem. The user is using IE8 on Vista.
The user antoniu1 has recreated the problem using Vista and Internet Explorer 8.
Have You got any idea why this happens in IE8 on Vista ?Kind Regards

August 18, 2009 at 11:43 am #314623Hi Handberg,
Just tested IE8 and the problem still exists. IE6 and IE7 are fine.
I also noticed other incompatibility problems in IE8, as the content area is partly overlapping the left column. You can see this when viewing the submenu series pages, for example.
From what I can see this template simply isn’t completely compatible with IE8.
What I would advice in any case is to not have the menu wrap as it does now in browser windows that are not maximised. The wrapping can cause problems. As there is so much information, try to group it more so that visitors don’t need to scan for all the information.
Finally, perhaps you might try different templates that are IE8 compatible. Install other templates and see if the problem disappears. If so, as you don’t have a website that is designed, you might switch templates. Solving these incompatibilites can take a long time and it requires in debt understanding of php and css. It’s often easier to switch to compatible templates. This would be my solution by far.
Let me know if you need any more help, I am happy to help out where I can.
Tom

HandbergDear Handberg,
The IE compatibility issues have always amazed me and i would request you to get in touch with JA Developer via PM or can raise a support ticket. I shall try to request JA Developer to have a look at this issue.
