The Quick start sets the database collation to _latin1_swedishci. It took me a while to find out what the problem is. Please keep in mind that Joomla and CMS in general is not intended for developers but the people who want to start and mange their sites on their own. Finding and changing the collation in the database is no menial task and in the overwhelming majority of cases it exceeds the knowledge of the target audience. In addition surely you realize that Sweedish is not the most common language in the world, so why not fix the problem and change the collation in the quickstart to _utf8mb4_unicodeci, that fits everyone. Bottom line is that I am no programmer and I do not want to apply random fixes from the Internet to convert the collation in the entire base. I have already lost an entire day on failed attempts to remedy the issue, so please either issue a script-fix that I can run against the base in PHPMyAdmin or release a new QuickStart and I will reinstall the whole thing. Thank you in advance

    Hi @mosprep,

We follow the default collation that Joomla uses but I understand your situation and already report to the team for further discussing on this.

In order to change the database collation easily, you can use some tools which supports this feature so you don’t need to change via phpMyadmin. Admin tools is one of them: https://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/admin-tools-the-quick-and-easy-way-to-database-collation-in-joomla/

Kindly backup your site and give it a try.
