I´m selling home-electronics online and became a member here just to be able to download the awesome template “Xenia II – Shopping Edition”. This template alone is well worth the member fee, or at least I thought so? So, I postponed the opening of my shop and decided to wait until the template was released. I downloaded it yesterday and uptil now, I´ve installed it 3 times according to the instructions. The site looks good in Firefox (2.0.0.1) but is a total mess in Internet Explorer (6.0.2900.2180).
Here are some of the things that happens in IE:
The page does not center.
The font size is too large, both in modules and in content pages.
The modules often drop to the bottom of the page.
The mambot “Tabs & Slides in Content” is really unstable. (I use these for my product details so they´re important.)I didn´t expect the pages to look exactly alike in both browsers but this looks more lika a beta release, when it comes to IE? I´ve been trying to fix this myself but have given up after too many hours of messing with this template now.
I´ve been working with a lot of other templates before. Not only the included Joomla-templates but also other commercial template packages from JoomlaDesigns (among others) and I´ve never encountered this many problems before?
My guess is that this is some kind of CSS thing?
This template is clearly aimed at the business clients who wishes to present their online shops in a more fashionable way and therefore, stability is a crucial moment in order to keep the new and current customers from leaving your site?
Maybe I´m being tough in my criticism and maybe I´ve made some stupid mistake somewhere and if this is the case, I´ll be the first to apologize!
I´ve attached three screens from IE (latest Products, the menu and the cart.)

Update:
Just switched to online-mode and that seems to at least center the page. Still having problems with at least the menu and the modules regarding the font size.
Working with page in offline-mode screws up the layout and font sizes in general, at least for me. Unfortunately, I can´t work with the page in online-mode for various reasons so I guess that I´ll have to switch it to online-mode from time to time and check it out./..Divent

It seems as the module JA News is causing a lot of problems for me. I unpublished it and the font size in the menu and the modules are looking better now! (I´m now using Ultimate AJAX Newsflash wich seems to work without any problems, at least for now.)
When it comes to the Tabs & Slides mambot, I upgraded to the latest version and changed some positions in the product details page and it worked like a charm! All of a sudden, the site was centered in IE again, although my site was offline? Weird…
Well, I´m at least on the right path so far!Hung Dinh FriendHung Dinh

February 3, 2007 at 4:19 pm #214050The CSS is easy to break when you install other modules or component, can I have a look at your live site to see if there is anything I can help?

The site is going online tomorrow (sunday) if nothing goes wrong. I´m doing some maintenance work in my webshop at the time being and I have some graphics left to customize before I go public again. It actually looks OK once i disabled the JA News Module. I´m having the same issues with content dropping to the lower end of the screen when I´m visiting joomlart.com?
Things are looking a lot better now anyway, at least for the time being. I guess the issues I had was caused by modules (or module settings) in conflict with the template? The offline-mode also messes up my layout but now I know what causes it. I´ll check back and tell when the site is public again and you can check it out. Maybe it can help if other people are having troubles.
I´ll be back!/..Divent

February 3, 2007 at 10:10 pm #214056While I understand that to maintain backward compatibility we have to cater for those use I.E in any form 🙂 from version 4 upwards install I.E 7 on your system and recommend it as a “best viewed in ” disclaimer, I really would love it if I.E was removed totally from a Windows install and instead you were asked at install time which browser you wanted to install ( From a List) FF would pawn the rest 🙂
More radical suggestions to help all who use the web and dont know how to change a browser install software etc , would be a instaler that would remove I.E from all systems in world and replace it with FF or even opera and take across all bookmarks, etc etc 🙂
Did I menton I hate Internet Exploiter? :
