September 20, 2011 at 7:53 pm #168772Problem creation details.
Install J1.7 in directory /armt1 :: this is the second J1.7 installation on this site, the other is in the root.
This was a Fantastico installation. Previously, although Fantastico had said it was installing J1.5 it had been installing 1.7. However, I was assuming that what had happened before would be happening again. It was not. This message was coming from 1.5 because it was a 1.5 installation. Once upgraded everything worked splendidly.
Download JA Business template and T3 plugin
On Ubuntu, unzip the file and create two directories one for plugin, one for template
Go to J1.7 admin and log on
Go to extension manager/install and select ja_business.1.3.0.zip (orplg_system_jat3.v1.3.2.zip)
Click Upload and InstallError report is Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
However, inspecting the zip package shows that there are files templateDetails.xml and jat3.xml in the appropriate places.
I feel really stupid asking this question but, please, where am I going wrong?
Thanks for your help
TD

September 20, 2011 at 8:00 pm #413980Asking the question proposed a test. Try to install on the root installation. Worked fine.
The second installation is intended to show a client a sample Joomla site. So it would be good to be able to install a different template on the two sites.
What do I need to do to achieve that?

September 20, 2011 at 8:33 pm #413994The zip should contain separate zips for the template and the plugin. You should point the installer at those zip files not at the extracted files.
Also, if these are clean installs it would probably be much easier for you to use the JA quickstarts as they contain J1.7 with the templates and all the plugins setup to match the demo.

September 20, 2011 at 9:07 pm #414001I cannot use the quickstart because they are not quite clean installs.
I did point the installer at the zips. I was just commenting that the xml files were present and in the correct place.
As the second post states the problem goes away if I install in the root template folder rather than in the second install folder.
Is it possible to have a demonstration site for a client using JA Business below a main site using JA Lime?
How does one go about achieving that?Root
— Templates
— — Ja Lime
— All the other Joomla directories
— Demonstration site root
— — Templates
— — — Ja Business
— — All the other Joomla directoriesIt is the installation into the red directory that is giving me problems.
Thanks for your help

September 20, 2011 at 9:12 pm #414005What do you mean not a clean install? That really is the whole point of the quickstart.
As for installing below the root yes, you can install Joomla in as many folders as you wish but make sure you use wither a new database (best option) or at least a different table sufix for the new install.

September 20, 2011 at 9:19 pm #414007It is not a clean install because I add some content to start with, perhaps I should not do that. But that is why I am not using quickstart.
However, my interest is in the multiple demonstration problem.
Using CPanel Fantastico on Rochen I create a new Joomla in a sub directory of my root directory.
It has a new database created automatically.
All the steps I think of as being a normal Joomla set up kit work as if we are in the root installation.
But these two – JA Business template and T3 plugin – fail. And I do not understand why. Can you offer an explanation?

September 20, 2011 at 9:31 pm #414009Not without seeing it for myself. However I refuse to work with Fantastico installs myself because I have had so many problems such as yours whenever I have used it. I have also had some big issues with the way fantastico work as have the team I work with on another project. I would suggest doing a manual install the recommended Joomla way.
Do other plugins fail?

September 20, 2011 at 9:35 pm #414011OK I shall try a non Fantastico install and see how I get on .
I have no problems with other plugins I use. And no one in our team can see how to fix this problem.
So, if anyone has any ideas, I would be most grateful if you could let me know them.
Thank you
good night now from the Mountains

September 22, 2011 at 8:55 pm #414354Hi,
Really not sure what you are doing wrong. I have just installed the jat3 plugin on your site no problems at all. I did try to install the template but you already seem to have a folder called templates>ja_business in your setup so you would need to delete that before the template could be installe through the Joomla installer

September 25, 2011 at 11:34 am #414847Dear Phil
How stupid can I be? The problem rested with the Joomla installation. It was 1.5. Once upgraded everything behaved as expected. As you would expect! 😀
