I’m a new member and relatively new to Joomla.
I have Joomla 1.7 and I just d/l JA Zeolite. I have the following questions:
- The d/l page for this temp. has like 7 d/l links. Which one is the temp?
- I d/l all of them and unzipped the template and then installed via Ext mgr., but nothing appears when I view the public page
- What exactly is the quickstart all about?

“Installing the package as any Joomla installation package”Is this the way it used to be done? Because all I’ve ever had to do was browse via the Extension Manager and click Upload/Install.

Sure, quickstart package must be done as a normal joomla installation because it is a joomla installation,(it install joomla core + template )with the difference that at the end you must install sample data that are the data of the Joomlart template.
December 3, 2011 at 8:33 pm #427810Please forgive my stupidity. I don’t get what you said at all.
I tried following the video but I get lost at step 3.
All this business about localhost doesn’t work on my computer. To me a normal Joomla installation is:
Go to Extensions manager
Browse for package
Upload/Install
et voila! it works instantlyTomC ModeratorTomC

December 3, 2011 at 8:54 pm #427815Hmm, maybe I’m not getting something here.
I assumed the Zeolite template was like most other templates I’ve used.
I have most of my content completed.
I was looking to simply use the Zeolite template to change the look and layout of my content.
Can I not do this?TomC ModeratorTomC

December 3, 2011 at 9:57 pm #427828…but this is an extension that takes the content from one site and moves it to another. I thought I would be able to switch templates from the current one I’m using to JA Zeolite via the template manager.:((

December 3, 2011 at 10:22 pm #427834You can switch from one template to another
But to adjust all layouts to fit your needs you need to manage on the zeolite template the css files for modules and articles (and not only css)

Yes, of course you can install the Zeolite template as per any other Joomla template but to get it to look as designed will take a bit of work (which I am sure you knew) but I would strongly recommend that you pick a template that is Joomla 1.7 ready. You may not be aware that come April Joomla 1.5.x will no longer be supported by Joomla.org which also means JA will no longer support it after that date. What does this mean? While your template will continue to works as will Joomla you may be at risk security wise after support ends for J1.5. Migrating an existing J1.5 site to J1.7 (will be 2.5 by then) is a lot of work and I am sure that you don’t want to spend a lot of time setting up JA Zeolite for J1.5 then have to go through the whole process and more again in just a few months time.
As for Zeolite I will as if there are plans to update that to J1.7. It is already JAT3v1 ready so I think the work to update to V2 and J1.7 would not be that hard.
If you still want to install the template as is then we will be happy to help you as a team. In the package there are a number of files. The first is a quickstart which is a complete Joomla install. The second in the lost on the download page is the one you want. That is the template. You then have another 6 packages, 4 of which are normal Joomla extensions installable throught the normal Joomla method. There is also the Virtuemart theme and finally the original source files.
All the instructions for installation ans setting up can be found here – http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/userguide-ja-zeolite-ii-template-for-joomla-1-5/ and here http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-zeolite-ii-template-installation-and-configuration/

December 3, 2011 at 10:34 pm #427837When I switch from my current template Roundlab (free) to JA Zeolite (paid $70 for membership) all I get is a blank browser page.
No menus
No articles
No images
No structure
Nothing…If I switch to let’s say Cloudbase (also free from a completely different template maker) I get a completely different look
New graphics
New layout
New colours
But all my content is there and availableWhy isn’t JA Zeolite displaying any of my content once I make it the default template?
I thought maybe I had not installed it properly, so I tried again. Both times the Joomla extension manager tells me the template installed successfully.I guess this is my real issue. I want JA Zeolite template to display my content so that I can see what it looks like using this theme as opposed to the one I’m using now.

Thank you so much that is very clear.
I am already running Joomla 1.7. Could it be that JA Zeolite 1.5 won’t work with my Joomla 1.7 install?
Should I have tried JA Zeolite II?I wanted to givy you a thank you, but mysteriously the button doesn’t appear under your post.
