    Hi there,

    I would have some questions:

    – is it possible to display VirtueMart categories in the JA Menu (the top navigation pane) AND use a Superfish / suckerfish style to manage the dropdown effect? (I think I saw this effect on a joomlart template but I cant remember which one)

    I’d need something like this:

    1.
    …..2
    ………..3
    ………..3
    ………..3
    …..2
    ………..3
    ………..3

my first reaction would be to create Sections for level 1, then categories for level 2 and articles for level 3 but it is not dynamic/user friendly at all…

please note that there can be several level 1, 2 and 3

    2. I would like to use magiczoom along with Zeolite (from magictoolbox.com). the effect works ok when I click on any “featured products” but I get errors when I try to view products by Category. I have tried all the available positions in thte template but still I get errors…

error is: Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in C:Program FilesEasyPHP5.2.10wwwstoremodulesmod_virtuemart_magiczoommod_virtuemart_magiczoom.php on line 258

any idea on how to solve this too please?

    thanks!

i figured out the Menu problem. for those interested in linking their Virtuemart Categories to the top menu and who, like me, had difficulties here is a quick walkthrough (maybe not hte best but it works)

    – create a Section in “content=>section manager” (this will show in the Main Menu and in the top navigation bar)

    – In VM, create your category. create your products. write down their ID (it shows on the right hand side of the screen)

    in Menu Manager now:
    – select the Main Menu.
    – trash everything you dont need…
    – click on “New” and add the Section you have previously created. save
    – then click on New again. Add a VirtueMart item. in “parameters/components” type the ID of the category. save
    – click on New again, create another Virtuemart item. in “parameters/components” type the ID of the product

do that for all the categories/products you need.

they will show in the top navigation bar.

to remove the “category” from the left navigation pane, just go to Module Manager, Select the VM component dealing with Categories and do not publish it.

    that’s it.

This might not be the best solution (imagine you have a large catalog…) but it works well if you have a few products that do not need to be updated (eg: you do not deal with technology products…)

if anybody here has a better option of doing it, pelase feel free to share! 🙂

Now I just need to figure out how to implement a nice superfish/suckerfish style dropdown menu… any suggestion ??

    thanks!
