Sorry for the newbie question — however, I have scoured the forum and not found an answer…
I need to update the Zibal template with my own custom color. Using the Zibal source PSD files I can make the necessary modifications — however, then I need to generate all the corresponding files to add my custom colored graphics to the template.
Using Photoshop / ImageReady — what is the method I should use?
I am not able to figure out if there are corresponding splice sets included in the Zibal PSDs?
Appreciate all help — even a small hint in the right direction!!! 🙂
Best regards,
Christer

Thanks khanh — however, the image source for Zibal is in 4 PSD files. My newbie question was how to split/slice/save these images into the many gif files in images/.
I am assuming that you use Photoshop/ImageReady to “automatically” save the images needed for Zibal using the source PSDs?
The alternative seems to be to figure out where each template gif has been “cut-out” from the PSD source and save them separately…
Cheers,
Christer

November 29, 2006 at 9:21 am #212109Hi Christer,
It does not automatically export from PSDs to gif images. You need some Photoshop skill to make change and export those images.December 1, 2006 at 12:10 am #212177Not getting a detailed response on this question might have been a blessing in disguise as it forced me to spend a couple of hours with Photoshop and ImageReady.
Finally I have figured out how to setup slices to correspond to the necessary files and formats — automatically generating the all files needed for Zibal.
If anyone out there is wants to know more details — just post the question in this thread…
Cheers,
Christer

December 5, 2006 at 6:48 am #212299Hi Christer,
I’m interested in creating my own colors for my site using Zibal. Can you please share your findings?
I may find how to do it, but if you can spare me some work, I will be very grateful!
Thanks in advance,
Atrialis

Hi Atrialis,Being a newbie to Joomla and CSS in general — I choose what I thought to be the easiest/naive method. Point being that there might be a smarter way of doing it, in which case I would appreciate if someone would chip in…
All image files that need to be modified are in /templates/ja_zibal/images. Image filenames define the color scheme they belong to. Note that most, but not all image files are stored in their respective color directories; /images/green, /images/cyan… etc. The remaining images are in the /images directory together with the default colored images.
I decided to use one of Ja Zibal’s predefined colors and update with my own colored images — updating all image files with the “green” extension for example.
First challenge was to use the JA Zibal “source image” files available for download at http://www.joomlart.com. The images are in PSD format (Photoshop). Also being a newbie to Photoshop and ImageReady I first needed to figure out how to define and save the necessary pictures from the PSD file.
I used ImageReady to “slice” each image out of the PSD and “optimize” it to the file type needed. For each image in the template I did this — ending up with slice for each image. Thus when I “Save Optimized” in ImageReady — all the images from that specific source file are saved automatically with the right format and filename.
Note: Some of the images don’t seem to be used by the template, like for instance header-bg.jpg despite the images being there.
Next step is to update the /css/colors/.css file. Colors are controlled for each section of the template. I searched & replaced the colors in the template with the colors I wanted to use.
Note: If you have updated the “default” images I believe the css file to modify is /css/template_css.css.
I made all changes incrementally; first uploading the modified images and verifying the results; changing lines of the css file a couple of lines at the time — to make sure that the results were what I wanted.
All-in-all, a messy and time consuming effort. However, in the end it worked. Hope my notes help you!
Cheers,
