Good evening everybody.
I have a "tag-popular" module with a tag cloud.
Now, if I select some tag, the related articles are shown...however, I'd need to have a menu item for each selection, that is for each tag; this would help me to place some other modules in the same page.
I have a menu item "tagged items", but if I click on the tags on the "tag-popular" module, articles are not displayed there.
In other words, how to assign a menu item to the selection of articles coming from a tag in the "tag-popular" module?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi

I'm not a 100% sure I follow but does all article content have a menu link pointing to it
it could be an article link or a category link

    Cheers
    Paul

    Thanks for replying.
    I'm sorry, I didn't understand.
What I meant is: how to have a menu item on which the list of articles selected through a tag will display?
If I don't know the menu item, I couldn't place any module in there.

    Thanks

I do have a "tagged items" menu item; however, tagged articles are not displayed there, if I click on tags found throughout the site. Trying to get why.
    Any help appreciated.

lawyerlinguist In other words, how to assign a menu item to the selection of articles coming from a tag in the "tag-popular" module?

You can try create "hidden" menu item by toggling Display in Menu to No in link type sub-tab for specific menu item and assign menu item type as outlined in screenshot

Thereon, You can assign respective modules to the created "hidden" menu item in menu assignment option

    Thank for replying.
Well, the point is that the tagged articles, won't be displayed in THAT hidden menu item.

As far as I can see this being core joomla feature, The article which is tagged can be assigned to hidden menu item. Thereon, You can assign respective modules for specific menu item to which article has been assigned or you can even try assign menu type as Special page: Blank Content in which category can be assigned for which particular articles have been added to

The example steps can be replicated by deploying JA Teline V quickstart package which is primarily content-rich template

      Thanks for replying.
Well, I have a quickstart version of JaLawFirm, the template I'm using and it just works as it should: tags link to tagged items menu item (as you can see in the demo site).
On my site, for some reason, can't get the same result.

Well, the problem is not that one.
The tags get selected and the related articles listed...but I don't get a dedicated menu item for that...

          4 months later

After some months I tried again and I'd really need to get it working now.
All the settings are ok, the solution must be elsewhere; it must be a bug with joomla; I'd really appreciate your help.
The point is that from the "popular tag" module, if you click on the tag, instead of leading to "index.php/it/tagged"
where "it" stands for Italian language and "tagged" is the name of a menu item "tagged items" type, the url is different : "index.php/it/component/tags/tag/property", where "property" is just the name of the tag I selected from the "popular tag" module. It seems that the routing to the intended menu item does not work as it should.
          I'd really appreciate your help.
          Thanks.

          Nobody can help?
Please note: the demo version of JaLawfirm on your site has the same problem.
Clicking tags at the bottom of articles do not link to "tagged items" menu item.

            lawyerlinguist

I just created a menu item type of Tagged Items + created Tags - Popular module.

When I click tag in the module, it displays list of articles with selected tag.

As I mentioned above, share us the credentials of your site so we can take a look and check for you.

With my respect you clearly did not read carefully.

Articles get selected, but they're not shown on the "Tagged-Items" menu item I set up; tags lead to this url:
              "component/tags/tag/your_tag" instead.

What I found out: I have a multilanguage site and tags do not support multilanguage at all; language tags needs to be set to ALL and the "Tagged Item" menu item too: Language set to ALL.

As I said: that's the same behavior you can see in JaLawfirm demo site on your own website: for instance, here you find an article. Try to select a tag at the bottom of the article; where the items are displayed? Not on your tagged items menu item I bet.

              Can anyone confirm it?

lawyerlinguist Hi. In our demo tag page is not showing on mentioned tag page, but we do not have a landing page created per tag. It may be simple to have such if page is managed by small amount of people and they decide to use only some of the tags. But from my experience tags are being added per content and each new tag would need to have a new menu item so an itemid can be generated for it. In such case hitting such tag should refer to such landing page and be opened there.

But apart of that, if You have just predefined tags than I will need an access to joomla panel to see if landing pages for those tags are created and if yes than I will be able to investigate why joomla is ignoring those landing pages.

teitbite Thank you for your kind and indeed professional answer. That's right, that must be the case for your demo site.

In the meanwhile I found out what the problem is with my own case, I think: it has to do with the "popular tag" module: the point is, tags don't seem to support multilanguage at all. Therefore, tags language need to be set to ALL. Now, the Tagged-Items menu item language also has to be set to ALL.
Otherwise, the tags grouped by the "popular tag" module won't display the items retrieved in the intended menu item, which is, Tagged Item menu item.

I know it hasn't directly to do with the template you provide, but who knows, that may be useful for someone else too, it took me a lot to find out.

lawyerlinguist Hi. This is something I've never noticed. Thank You for teaching me new things. Have You tried to use falang for tags translation? It's using a different system, so it may actually overcome that.
