To test that the admin email is working end to end I logged in as another member and sent a private message to admin from within Jomsocial
- an email notification was sent to the admin email account successfully (not as spam)
Since there are two admin accounts (one called admin and one called support), I logged in to Joomla as support and used Joomla's mass-mail tool to mail all admins (no BCC) - the email arrived at the correct admin account (not at support as mass mail doesn't include the sender)
So - two ways to prove that email is getting through as expected - both from Joomla and jomsocial
I then registered as a new user and got to the "Your email address has been verified. Once an administrator approves your account, you will be notified you can log in to the site." message:
Normally I would expect the admin email account to receive a request to approve the member but nothing arrives
So this seems that the code that send the approval request within the registration process is not doing so
Feel free to login and change the admin email address to something you can receive and then try and register a user - you will not receive the alert.
