October 14, 2008 at 1:39 pm #275239Hi
If you are using Paypal then you don’t need SSL certificate, Paypal deals with that, you may need secure server for the pro version. Find out more info here: http://www.onlinemerchantnetwork.com/inform

October 14, 2008 at 7:51 pm #275272hough here you have a post about the secure and not secure items from microsoft that can helps you
SYMPTOMS
When you connect to a secure Web site (a site whose address starts with https://) that contains both secure and non-secure items, you may receive the following error message:
This page contains both secure and non-secure items. Do you want to download the non-secure items?CAUSE
If a secure Web page uses frames and one or more of the frames does not load, either because you cancel the load or because the load request does not work, Internet Explorer generates the preceding error message. This issue occurs because Internet Explorer determines that the successfully loaded frames are in the Internet domain and the internally generated error frames are on the local computer, and therefore sets the current zone to mixed. This triggers a security error message that alerts you that the page contains secure and non-secure items.
In this case, the error message does not indicate a security problem; the error message merely indicates that the page has not loaded all of the secure content fully.
STATUS
This behavior is by design. You cannot disable this error message.MORE INFORMATION
This error message is an indication that the Web site contains both secure and non-secure items. You can download the non-secure items with the secure items on the Web site, display only the secure items, or view the corresponding Help topic. The choices in Internet Explorer 3.02 and Internet Explorer 4.0 and later are slightly different. For descriptions of these differences, refer to the following sections.the source is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184960

October 15, 2008 at 1:29 am #275321tonyg is right, if your using paypal they are hosting the cart, so you do not need the https certificate.
important note: for your users that want to pay with a credit card and not join paypal, if you do not use paypal pro, they will only be able to use their credit card once or twice and then they will be forced to join paypal for future purchases. best you use paypal pro as then there are no limits on credit card usage by your customers.

October 15, 2008 at 2:33 am #275328Hi Shertmann,
Could you please edit out “Back to the top” from your useful post, as it is likely to cause confustion to others reading it. Microsoft only use it as navigation aid, not part of the solution or explaination given.

October 15, 2008 at 3:08 am #275335thanks for pointie out that, i was not notice.
October 15, 2008 at 6:29 pm #275461hi, well i am using mesolite template and i get this secure/unsecure warning when i click to go to the checkout. I set the Https secure address in the backend config of VM and set to use secure only for checkout.
i use paypal but also have other payment methods and so i really want the checkout to not have these annoying popups which only annoys and may concern some potential buyers from my site.
After the popup i click on view both secure and unsecure and then view the source of the page and notice that a whole bunch of things arent using the https prefix. Further investigation reveals that they are all JA Mesolite links. It seems that somehow the template url and base url are not working correctly (changing to https) for the template stuff. If i click dont show unsecure items all i see is a text version of my site (no css, images etc etc as these are the template links of mesolite).
So i assume this is a Mesolite issue? Houghton maybe you could check also and see if that is the same problem you are having?
I really would like to try and fix this so any help would be much appreciated.
